Creating a shared customer foundation across disconnected systems

Overview

Status: Golden Record delivery completed.

Customer information spread across business systems makes it difficult to understand which records represent the same customer. We built Automotive Client’s governed Golden Customer Record foundation, combining customer definitions, data pipelines, matching rules, traceability, and quality controls.

What was at stake

Fragmented customer records and different definitions of a customer made a shared view difficult to establish. Bringing the data together required decisions about identity, conflicting attributes, quality, and how to retain the connection to each original source.

How the work came together

Agree what a customer means

Define entities, ownership, matching fields, confidence thresholds, and rules for resolving conflicting attributes.

Preserve and standardize

Build ingestion and transformation pipelines, retain source lineage, and normalize customer information before matching.

Connect the identities

Apply matching logic and create a cross-reference from source records to shared Golden Customer identities.

Make quality visible

Establish promotion rules, completeness and validity checks, exceptions, and quality reporting.

What changed

Automotive Client gained a shared, traceable customer foundation. Source records can be connected to Golden Customer identities under defined matching rules, with measures for reviewing quality and coverage. The work provides a governed basis for customer analytics and subsequent system changes.

Why the combination matters

Governance established the shared meaning of a customer. Architecture and engineering made the sources and transformations dependable. Matching and quality controls determined how records could be connected. Traceability and reporting made the resulting foundation explainable and maintainable.

What the foundation makes possible

  • Customer analysis across sources. Connect information about the same customer across business systems rather than treating each source identity separately.
  • Consistent reporting. Use shared definitions and inspect quality and coverage when interpreting the numbers.
  • Further integration and measurement. Build subsequent system connections, segmentation, or customer-value analysis on a traceable foundation.

A foundation to build on

The Golden Customer Record delivery is complete. The shared identity, source cross-reference, and quality controls provide a foundation for subsequent integrations and analysis. Customer segmentation, value analysis, and marketing measurement can build on that foundation as further work is scoped.
